Sierra Sunday: Week 3

Hi Friends,
This past week has been full of bonding with dad while mom is at work, going for long walks, taking naps, testing mom to make sure she knows the rules, and only getting left at home once so the humans could go to The Hunger Games with some friends.  They keep telling me that taking puppies to the movies is frowned upon so I have to stay home and bark until they return.
Enjoy this weeks photos!

For some reason I can't keep my mouth shut while I am resting on my back.
Walking in the fresh snow is so much more fun then the plowed sidewalk.

Testing mom to see if she remembers that I am not allowed on the furniture.
Don't even think about locking me in my crate...
Dad and I climbed a 20 foot snow hill.
Who says you can't play disk golf in the snow.
Dad found a really tall icicle for mom.
My Sunday afternoon nap.

Well that wraps up my week. See ya next Sunday!

Sierra Sunday: Week 2

I hope you all have been having a great week.  The humans have been keeping me busy because they think I won't chew or use the carpet to relieve myself if I am busy.  I now only use the carpet or go in my crate when I am mad at them for leaving me or not playing.

Here are some pictures from my week:

Mom caught me hanging out under the coffee table with my tongue out!
I love relaxing under the coffee table.

Have you seen my carrot?

The stairs have the best view!

Where do you think you are going?

Doesn't he know this is a dog toy?

Don't take my bone away.  I promise it isn't to small... yet.
Sully came over for a play date on Saturday.  We are best friends and possibly soul mates but mom keeps telling me I have to be easy on him because I am so big.

Home Sweet Home

Welcome to our home. Enjoy!
The kitchen...
Stay tuned to see how I replaced the glass from the coffee table.
My loves relaxing in the living room.

Our dinning area.  Our table is next on my list to refinish.
I hope you enjoyed our lower level.  Check back next week for upstairs ;-)

In the blink of an eye

One week ago today Drew went in for what we thought would be a standard wisdom teeth removal. Little did we know it would be so much more.

We woke up and were both feeling a little anxious about the day.  It would be the first time Sierra would be left home alone in her crate and Drew would have 3 wisdom teeth pulled.  I kept telling myself that wisdom teeth removal was no big deal and I was an excellent nurse when it came to wisdom teeth patients.  For some reason I always get suckered into taking people to get their wisdom teeth removed.  Remind me to tell you about the time I had to drive my brother home after his were removed.

Back to the husband... After sitting in the waiting room for 3 hours his doctor came and got me but had "the look" on his face.  I had an uneasy feeling during the whole process and that look confirmed it.  They took me back to his room which was crowded with doctors, nurses, and sounding alarms and explained that they had "accidentally" cut his nerve while they were removing his lower right tooth.  As I stood their in shock next to my dazed husband they proceeded to tell me he would probably never again have feeling in his lower right teeth, jaw, and lip. The next few hours were a blur of wondering what the nerve controlled and how it would change our lives.

Thankfully my really smart cousin Doctor Nate was able to coach us with talking to the doctors. Thanks to his questions we found out they had completely severed his lower right Inferior Alveolar nerve which controls the feeling in his teeth, lip, and jaw.

Please don't mind Mustache March...
I swore kisses were for shavers but now I have to kiss him for research.
Fast forward a few days and he still has most of his feeling except for in one tooth.  At this point the doctors are saying either the big man upstairs is taking care of him or he still may loose it within the next 2-4 weeks. If he does loose the feeling it could be gone for 6 months to the rest of his life.

Some how him joking that we can call him droopy* or how funny it is to not feel kisses has lightened the mood in our home and made me love him all the more.

We asked for an Adventure and we sure are getting one.  Maybe not the one we had in mind but this one is teaching us to love, pray, and roll with the punches (Drew has the bruises to prove it).

With Love, Mr Messinger's Nurse

*We now have learned that he will not have a droopy face! Praise the Lord!

Sierra Sunday: Week 1

Taking a nap after a long walk ;-)
Can we stop taking pictures and go for a run please?
If I take a nap can I get out of doing the dishes?
If I guard this manual they can't get their Alaska Drivers License and leave me home alone.
Why does he have to hold me like a baby?  Good thing mom isn't strong enough to hold me like this!
Why does she take so many pictures of me when I nap?
Check out my new outfit!
I am such a good girl until you set the camera down.
I think that 5 lb dog over there is going to eat me! HELP
I said no more pictures!

Northern Lights

Tonight Andrew and I were lucky enough to see the Northern Lights.
At 11:45 Andrew got home from work and loaded Sierra and I into the car to see the lights. This has to be the first upside to him working Swings.
By the time we figured out the settings on our camera the clouds shifted and uncovered the moon.  It was so beautiful and our pictures do not do it justice.
I guess you will all have to move to Alaska to see them.
